Louisiana-Monroe has issued a statement regarding the conduct of offensive line coach Cameron Blankenship during Saturday’s loss to Marshall.
“In Saturday’s game against Marshall, Assistant Coach Cameron Blankenship made physical contact with a ULM student-athlete on the sideline,” the statement, which was shared on Twitter (formerly X) by ULM Athletics said. “This behavior is unacceptable and not how ULM football conducts business. There will be disciplinary action taken against the assistant coach. Because this is a personnel matter, the discipline will be handled internally.”

For those who didn’t see what happened, Blankenship was on the field between plays. Blankenship was irate, as he threw his headset down and screamed at offensive lineman Drew Hutchinson, who was running off of the field. Hutchinson ran right by Blankenship as he sprinted to the sideline. The coach followed Hutchinson, bumping into another player in the process. Blankenship then made physical contact with Hutchinson more than once as he screamed into the lineman’s face. Blankenship was quickly pulled away from Hutchinson by another player.
The entire exchange was captured on camera.
“It got a little spirited over there.”

Disciplinary action of some sort is certainly warranted after that.
