Cincinnati Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow is still in the process of recovering from a wrist injury that ended his 2023 season. And as the weather is starting to get colder, it sounds like he could be facing some new challenges.
According to a report from Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer, Joe Burrow “wasn’t necessarily pleased” with the way he threw the ball in practice in the cold weather.
“Some interesting stuff from Joe Burrow today regarding his wrist. He has yet to play in a cold weather game yet and isn’t sure how his wrist will feel, when asked how he threw today at practice he wasn’t necessarily pleased,” Conway said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
Needless to say, this is obviously some pretty bad news for Burrow given that he plays in a cold-weather city and the bulk of the team’s meaningful games down the stretch will take place in cold weather year after year.
Fans had a lot to say about the admission.
“Will be interesting to see how that wrist will affect Burrow long-term, I think it will cut short his career sadly,” one fan wrote on X.
“Burrow setting it up that if Bengals lose he sits out rest of season with ‘injury.’ Then when offseason gets here he will demand a trade. I wouldn’t blame him,” another fan speculated.
“This isn’t just interesting, this is almost gut wrenching,” another fan said.
“If you can’t throw in the cold because of an injury, that’s a career ending injury. 90% of the most important football is played in the cold, especially in that division,” another fan added.
“I don’t think he’s lying about this,” another fan said.
We’ll have to see how Burrow fares this weekend when the Bengals take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in an absolute must-win game.
