Arsenal vs Manchester United LIVE: Ruben Amorim makes six changes for Premier League clash at Emirates Stadium

Ruben Amorim wants his Manchester United team to be brave against Arsenal this evening and pick their moments in the game to attack.

The head coach said: “It’s important to be brave. When I say brave, it’s not pressing all the time higher. It’s not the same. You have to understand the moments of the game.

“We need to have the ball, that is a key point. We want to have the ball, we want also to dominate some moments of the game because we know that in these matches it’s hard to control all the game.

“If I have to say something, we have to be brave and we have to control the game.”

That was a question posed to Mikel Arteta who replied: “Yes, in certain moments.

“There are still a lot of things we can do to improve. We can do that as a team as well to promote that and how we connect with them [the fans].

“There are a lot of things and we are discussing that, because the criteria is changing, the age of certain attendance at the Emirates is changing and we have to continually evolve with that to get the best possible atmosphere and experience for our supporters.”

Bukayo Saka has scored three Premier League goals and set up two against United. Only Thierry Henry, with 12, has more goal involvements in this fixture for the Gunners.

Saka and Kai Havertz are Arsenal’s joint-leading Premier League goalscorers this campaign with five goals apiece. Eight of those 10 goals were netted at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal host United nine points adrift of table-topping Liverpool, but two points clear of City with Pep Guardiola’s side slumping to four consecutive defeats in the league and six losses in seven in all competitions – the worst run of the Spaniard’s managerial career.

Arsenal are unbeaten in 15 Premier League fixtures versus other established top-six opposition since a 4-1 defeat at Manchester City in April last year.

“Thinking about having the ball. We are looking for that as Arsenal are a strong team and Manuel Ugarte and Bruno Fernandes can run – that’s important for today.

“We are playing two in two days and Arsenal has one more day [rest] so we have to rotate the team – it is impossible to play the same team.”

Similarly, Manchester United can earn back-to-back Premier League victories for the first time this season.

Yet, they have won just two of their last 18 Premier League games in London. Both victories were at Fulham courtesy of goals in stoppage time.

This game is Arsenal’s 500th match in all competitions at the Emirates Stadium. Should they triumph the Gunners would win three successive league matches for the first time this season.

Ruben Amorim warned “the storm will come” eventually as Manchester United’s head coach tried to temper expectations ahead of the trip to Arsenal.

The 39-year-old has been a breath of fresh air since succeeding Erik ten Hag, with his personality and approach, coupled with promising early performances, bringing hope back to Old Trafford.

Amorim has been touched by his warm welcome but repeatedly urged fans to avoid jumping the gun, having followed a draw at Ipswich with home wins against Bodo/Glimt and Everton.

He takes up the left centre-back role which Lisandro Martinez vacates. Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, Marcus Rashford, Joshua Zirkzee and Casemiro are the other casualties.

In their place come Mason Mount, Tyrell Malacia, Manuel Ugarte, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund.
