Arsenal host Manchester United at the Emirates tonight in another blockbuster Premier League clash as the busy winter period begins.
The Gunners find themselves up to second in the table though they are nine points adrift of league leaders Liverpool. Mikel Arteta’s side have weathered a run of four league games without a win back-to-back victories over Nottingham Forest and West Ham. They have rediscovered their form in front of goal scoring 13 goals in three games across all competitions and will be tough to beat at home.
Ruben Amorim is tasked with doing just that. His Man Utd side are unbeaten since the Portuguese manager took charge with wins over Bodo/Glimt and Everton following a draw against Ipswich in Amorim’s first game in charge. The manager is still striving for improvements from his players but understands that a win over Arsenal will be a big boost to United’s chances of reaching to top four.

‘It’s important to be brave’
Ruben Amorim wants his Manchester United team to be brave against Arsenal this evening and pick their moments in the game to attack.
The head coach said: “It’s important to be brave. When I say brave, it’s not pressing all the time higher. It’s not the same. You have to understand the moments of the game.
“We need to have the ball, that is a key point. We want to have the ball, we want also to dominate some moments of the game because we know that in these matches it’s hard to control all the game.
“If I have to say something, we have to be brave and we have to control the game.”

Is the Emirates more hostile now?
That was a question posed to Mikel Arteta who replied: “Yes, in certain moments.
“There are still a lot of things we can do to improve. We can do that as a team as well to promote that and how we connect with them [the fans].
“There are a lot of things and we are discussing that, because the criteria is changing, the age of certain attendance at the Emirates is changing and we have to continually evolve with that to get the best possible atmosphere and experience for our supporters.”

Amorim speaking to Amazon Prmie
The Manchester United boss spoke to Amazon Prime Video ahead of the match and said: “Of course, it is a massive game and everyone feels that.
“It’s a great test, but I dont see it that way, it is one more game. This matters a lot to our fans, but it is one more game. We have to compete and show our game with the ball.
“Thinking about having the ball. We are looking for that as Arsenal are a strong team and Manuel Ugarte and Bruno Fernandes can run – that’s important for today.
“We are playing two in two days and Arsenal has one more day [rest] so we have to rotate the team – it is impossible to play the same team.”

Back-to-back?
Similarly, Manchester United can earn back-to-back Premier League victories for the first time this season.
Yet, they have won just two of their last 18 Premier League games in London. Both victories were at Fulham courtesy of goals in stoppage time.
