Sports Mole previews Sunday’s Ligue 1 clash between Strasbourg and Nantes, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Nantes will look to end a five-game winless run when they travel to Stade de la Meinau for Sunday’s Ligue 1 clash with Strasbourg.
The hosts will also be desperate to clinch all three points after winning just one of their previous six league matches.

Strasbourg are sitting in 10th place in the Ligue 1 table after winning two, drawing four and losing two of their eight league matches
Liam Rosenior‘s side would be higher in the table were it not for their poor away form, having drawn two and lost two of their four league games this term.
Last weekend, Sekou Mara and Pape Daouda Diong both got on the scoresheet as Strasbourg fell to a 4-2 defeat to reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes.
While they are still waiting for their first away league win since March, Strasbourg have enjoyed better fortunes at the Stade da la Meinau this season, avoiding defeat in all four of their top-flight home games (W2, D2).
Their promising home form has been built upon a strong defence, having conceded just four goals in as many home games, which is a significant contrast to the 12 they have shipped on their travels.
Les Bleu et Blanc have fared reasonably well in recent games against Nantes, with their last six meetings producing three wins, two draws and just one defeat.

Like their hosts, Nantes have taken 10 points from their eight league matches, although they are sitting one place above their opponents due to their small goal difference advantage.
Nantes made a promising start to the 2024-25 season, playing out a goalless draw with Toulouse before claiming back-to-back wins over Auxerre and Montpellier.
However, over two months on from beating Montpellier, Antoine Kombouare‘s side are still waiting for their third league win, having drawn three and lost two of their last three Ligue 1 matches.
In their most recent outing against Nice, Nantes had to settle for a share of the spoils after Matthis Abline saw his second goal of the season cancelled out by Evann Guessand.
As a result of that 1-1 draw, Les Canaris have now failed to win four of the six matches where they have scored first this season.
Nantes will be determined to return to winning ways in Sunday’s fixture, and while they have won just one of their last six head-to-head meetings, that sole victory did take place in their most recent away game against Strasbourg in October 2023 when Marcus Coco and Samuel Moutoussamy found the net in a 2-1 win.

Strasbourg are unable to call upon Thomas Delaine, Emanuel Emegha, Caleb Wiley and Moise Sahi Dion due to knee injuries.
Goalkeeper Alaa Bellaarouch remains sidelined with a groin issue, ensuring Chelsea loanee Djordje Petrovic will continue to operate between the posts.
Defender Guela Doue and midfielder Ismael Doukoure are set to return to the starting lineup after missing the defeat to PSG through suspension.
Mara and Saidou Sow could also be brought into the side following their appearances as half-time substitutes at the Parc des Princes.
As for the visitors, they will have to assess the fitness of defender Jean-Kevin Duverne and attacker Herba Guirassy.
Douglas Augusto is set to return to the Nantes midfield after serving a one-match ban for an accumulation of yellow cards.
Coco is also expected to come back into the matchday squad, having completed a two-ban suspension following last month’s red card against Saint-Etienne.
Tino Kadewere is likely to provide an option off the bench after he returned from injury to feature as a substitute last Sunday.
Strasbourg possible starting lineup:
Petrovic; Doue, Sow, Sylla, Moreira; Doukoure, Santos; Bakwa, Diarra, Nanasi; Emegha
Nantes possible starting lineup:
Lafont; Amian, Castelletto, Zeze, Cozza; Chirivella, Augusto; Abline, Lepenant, Simon; Mostafa Mohamed
We say: Strasbourg 1-1 Nantes
Strasbourg and Nantes are both sitting level on 10 points, and we think the two closely-matched sides could produce a cagey encounter which could result in the spoils being shared, especially as two of the hosts’ last two home matches have finished all square.
