Sports Mole looks at how Barcelona could line in Tuesday’s Champions League contest with Benfica in Portugal.
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick could name an unchanged side for Tuesday’s Champions League fixture with Benfica in Portugal.
Dani Olmo is a fresh injury blow for the Catalan outfit, with the Spain international suffering a muscular problem during the team’s 1-1 draw with Getafe in La Liga.
The attacker was introduced in the 62nd minute and was able to finish the contest, but it was confirmed on Sunday that he had picked up a muscular issue which will certainly rule him out of this match.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Marc Bernal and Inigo Martinez will are also absent for Barcelona in Portugal, but Marc Casado is fit despite concerns that the midfielder had picked up an issue against Getafe.
Casado was surprisingly withdrawn at the interval of the league fixture, but he is fit and is set to continue in central midfield.
Frenkie de Jong and Ferran Torres are the two players who will be pushing the hardest to break into the XI, but it is likely that it will be a case of same again for Barcelona, with Gavi again featuring in the number 10 position.
Martinez’s absence is allowing Ronald Araujo to earn a run in the centre-back position, while Inaki Pena was brought back in between the sticks against Getafe after Wojciech Szczesny‘s three cup appearances, and the former should again be given the nod here.
Barcelona possible starting lineup: Pena; Kounde, Araujo, Cubarsi, Balde; Casado, Pedri; Yamal, Gavi, Raphinha; Lewandowski
